In this change of life, I question my role as mother ~ one of my favourites being this depiction of Mary, full of doubt, at her Anunciation: And then, a series of sketches by Matisse, in preparation for inclusion in the Dominican Chapel, Venice: Oh look! Christ's suffering. Oh look! the nailing of his body to the Cross Oh Look! the glorious sketches of the face of the Mother. Old and new
This is not the most beautiful of my photos, but it is one of the most comforting: old and new, soft and hard, water and stone, bodies and light we are all here together but in this one moment, nothing has more meaning than the fact that we are juxtaposed. Even, if and when Venice drowns, in the future; if and when, we become no more
